摘 要
本文主要通過研究英國小說家托馬斯·哈代的作品《無名的裘德》,分析作品中男女主人公裘德和蘇的性格沖突和悲劇成因,聯系哈代個人經歷與社會背景探究其宿命論的根源及其在該作品中的具體表現,從而更好地體會作品的文學價值及社會意義。

ABSTRACT
This paper mainly studies the English novelist Thomas Hardy’s representative novel Jude the Obscure, aiming to analyze the character conflicts of Jude and Sue, the hero and heroine in the novel, and the causes of their tragic fate. The root of Hardy’s fatalism and its reflection in the novel will be expatiated on with the author’s life experience and social background taken into consideration, so as to help readers better understand the literary value and social significance of the novel.
